Edvard Munch (1863 - 1944)
A selection of events in Edvard Munch’s life:
1900 - 02 Edvard Munch spends time in a sanatorium in Switzerland. Travels around Europe, does some graphics work.
1903 - 04 Spends time in Berlin, Weimar, Kristiania, Copenhagen etc. He Exhibits in Vienna and Paris.
1905 - 07 Munch has a big exhibition in Prague, and spendstime in Chemnitz, Bad Kösen, Weimar, Berlin etc. The Reinhardt-Frieze is finished.
1908 Berlin, Paris, Warnemünde. Has a nervous breakdown in Copenhagen and checks in at Dr. Jacobsens Clinic for 6 months.
1909 Edvard Munch settles in Kragerø (Krageroe) south of Åsgårdsrand (Aasgaardstrand) by the Oslo Fjord. Prepares the decorations for the Aula of the university in Kristiania.
1910 Munch byes the property Ramme in Hvitsten by the Oslo Fjord and keeps working on proposals for public decorations.
1911 - 16 Lives by the Oslo Fjord, but travels around Europe to Paris, Berlin, London etc. Munch Exhibits at the Sonderbund exhibition in Cologne in 1912. Receives a mark of honour at his 50th birthday.
1916 Edvard Munch buys the property Ekely outside of Oslo where he lives the rest of his life. The paintings for the Aula are presented.
1917 - 21 He Exhibits in Copenhagen and Stockholm. He also Travels to Bergen, Gothenburg, Paris, Berlin and Frankfurt.
